ASCON IEEChE 2026

We are pleased to announce that the 8th ASCON-IEEChE (Asian Conference on Innovative Energy and Environmental Chemical Engineering) will be held in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan from October 16th to 19th, 2026. ASCON-IEEChE originally began as the Asian Conference on Fluidized Bed and Three-Phase Reactors (ASCON), which was first held in Tokyo in 1988, and has since been held every two years with Korea, Taiwan, and Japan as host countries. In 2008, the conference was expanded to cover research topics related to environmental and energy issues and renamed ASCON-IEEChE. Sapporo hosted the first ASCON-IEEChE in 2008, and it is a great honor to have the opportunity to welcome you all to Sapporo again.

Hokkaido, with its high potential for renewable energy and natural resources, is at the forefront of realizing a net-zero carbon society, and demonstration-scale pilot studies are currently being conducted in fields such as renewable energy resources exploration, carbon dioxide capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), and hydrogen production and utilization. In light of this situation, the 8th ASCON-IEEChE aims to provide a valuable platform for research and development professionals, chemical engineers, researchers, and students from Asia and around the world to exchange views and expertise on energy and environmental issues, particularly in research areas such as project and program management, renewable energy, and hydrogen utilization technology. We hope that this special opportunity will be used to promote collaboration among participants in promoting a carbon-neutral society.

Hokkaido is blessed with abundant nature and fresh ingredients, and Sapporo is home to a wide variety of fresh ingredients from all over the prefecture, fostering a rich food culture. The harmony between nature and the city is what makes Sapporo unique and appealing. With easy access from both within and outside the prefecture, you can easily enjoy the nature and scenic spots around Sapporo.

Many historical buildings remain in Sapporo, giving you a sense of the pioneering era. We hope that all participants will explore Sapporo on foot and have a special experience that is unique to them.
